I Am Your Determination

I am hope in a stream of hopelessness
I am a dream in a cloud of nightmares

I am love when hate abounds

I am light when darkness surrounds

I am the last breath in fatigue

I am the doubt that only you believe

I am the finishing step

In your endless race

I am the burst of speed

That puts you in first place

I am the part of you that doesn't give up

I am the open path in an endless maze
I am the lush water puddle in a dry desert
I am the last peach on a dying tree
I am the touch of life that sets you free
I am everything you lack
I am the second chance that takes you back
I am the iron shield when you take a blow
I am the one to show you where to go
I am that final thought in your mind
That pushes you to the end
I have always been your greatest friend
I am the part of you that doesn't give up

I am as pristine as the orange ocean sunset
I am as beautiful as the twinkling stars

I am the haste it takes to make it that far
I am as powerful as a raging waterfall
I am the strength to climb any wall
I am the courage in a moment of fear
I am your last bitter crying tear

Before you rise back up
And take what's rightfully yours
I am always there for you
Even when you least expect it
I am the part of you that keeps on going
And with every smile keeps on growing
I am the part of you that never gives up

...I am your determination!

Give A New Life!

If you have seen the worst tide,
You would know the strength of that new light.
Wake up and shower that new sheen on those who yearn for it!

If you have witnessed the stern agony,
You would know the secret to heal too.
Wake up and pour your power-to-heal on those who crave for it!

If you have lived your life to the extreme for that dream victory,
You would know what it takes to achieve greatness.
Preach it to those who have gone weak in their knees!

If you have gone mad enough to fulfill your long time aspiration,
You would know how sweet those sweats tasted.
Share your will with those who wish it!

If tomorrow doesn't take your attendance,
Fret not, for if you make a difference,
It will come searching for you!

Let the stars look out for you,
And the sunshine spell your name.
Don't fade with the diminishing sun,
Keep treading like the stern wave.

For legends are not born, they are created from great souls,
But, for it to happen,
They rent their peace and employ the best of their will.
They program their consequences and learn the art of mastery.

If you know the way to this road,
Help and configure in others who require it,
Strive and let strive,
The power is yours,
Give a new life!

Why Me?

"Happiness keeps you Sweet,
Trials keep you Strong,
Sorrow keeps you Human,
Failure keeps you Humble and Success keeps you Glowing,
But only Faith & Attitude keeps you Going."

Arthur Ashe, the legendary Wimbledon player, was dying of AIDS. He contracted HIV during the blood transfusions he had received during a heart surgery in 1983.

From all over the world, he received letters from his fans, one of which conveyed: "Why does GOD have to select you for such a bad disease?"

To this Arthur Ashe replied:

"The world over, 50 million children start playing tennis, 5 million learn to play tennis, 500,000 learn professional tennis, 50,000 come to the circuit, 5000 reach the grand slam, 50 reach Wimbledon, 4 to semi final, and 2 make it to the finals.

When I was holding a cup, I never asked GOD 'Why me?’ And today, in pain, I should not be asking GOD 'Why me?'"

Eight Lies Of A Mother

(from : unknown person)

One more reason to love your MOTHER &…. to wet your eyes

This story begins when I was a child: I was born poor. Often we hadn't enough to eat. Whenever we had some food, Mother often gave me her portion of rice. While she was transferring her rice into my bowl, she would say, "Eat this rice, son, I'm not hungry."

This was Mother's First Lie.

As I grew, Mother gave up her spare time to fish in a river near our house; she hoped that from the fish she caught, she could give me a little bit more nutritious food for my growth. Once she had caught just two fish, she would make fish soup. While I was eating the soup, mother would sit beside me and eat what was still left on the bone of the fish I had eaten; my heart was touched when I saw it. Once I gave the other fish to her on my chopstick but she immediately refused it and said, "Eat this fish son, I don't really like fish."

This was Mother's Second Lie.

Then, in order to fund my education, Mother went to a Match Factory to bring home some used matchboxes, which she filled with fresh matchsticks. This helped her get some money to cover our needs. One wintry night I awoke to find Mother filling the matchboxes by candlelight. So I said, "Mother, go to sleep; it's late: you can continue working tomorrow morning." Mother smiled and said, "Go to sleep son, I'm not tired."

This was Mother's Third Lie.

When I had to sit my Final Examination, Mother accompanied me. After dawn, Mother waited for me for hours in the heat of the sun. When the bell rang, I ran to meet her... Mother embraced me and poured me a glass of tea that she had prepared in a thermos. The tea was not as strong as my Mother's love. Seeing Mother covered with perspiration, I at once gave her my glass and asked her to drink too. Mother said, "Drink son, I'm not thirsty!"

This was Mother's Fourth Lie.

After Father's death, Mother had to play the role of a single parent. She held on to her former job; she had to fund our needs alone. Our family's life was more complicated. We suffered from starvation. Seeing our family's condition worsening, my kind Uncle, who lived near my house, came to help us solve our problems big and small. Our other neighbors saw that we were poverty stricken so they often advised my mother to marry again. But Mother refused to remarry saying, "I don't need love."

This was Mother's Fifth Lie.

After I had finished my studies and got a job, it was time for my old Mother to retire but she carried on going to the market every morning just to sell a few vegetables. I kept sending her money but she was steadfast and even sent the money back to me. She said, "I have enough money."

That was Mother's Sixth Lie.

I continued my part-time studies for my Master's Degree. Funded by the American Corporation for which I worked, I succeeded in my studies. With a big jump in my salary, I decided to bring Mother to enjoy life in America but Mother didn't want to bother her son. She said to me, "I'm not used to high living."

That was Mother's Seventh Lie.

In her dotage, Mother was attacked by cancer and had to be hospitalized. Now living far across the ocean, I went home to visit Mother who was bedridden after an operation. Mother tried to smile but I was heartbroken because she was so thin and feeble but Mother said, "Don't cry son, I'm not in pain."

That was Mother's Eighth Lie.

Telling me this eighth lie, she died.

YES, MOTHER WAS AN ANGEL!

M - O - T - H - E - R

"M" is for the million things she gave me,
"O" means only that she's growing old,
"T" is for the tears she shed to save me,
"H" is for her heart of gold,
"E" is for her eyes with love-light shining in them,
"R" means right , and right she'll always be,

Put them all together, they spell "MOTHER"

... a word that means the world to me

Three Words And Their Special Effects!!

  • I MISS YOU - This powerful affirmation tells the other person that they are wanted, needed, desired and loved.
  • YOU ARE RIGHT - Best effective in diffusing arguments.
  • PLEASE FORGIVE ME - Heals and restores broken relationships.
  • I THANK YOU - Gratitude is an exquisite form of courtesy.

  • I'LL BE THERE - A great gift to give for a relationship in need for renewing love and friendship.

  • I LOVE YOU - The most important three words which cover all the above

SOLVING PROBLEMS

When a problem creator brings up an insignificant issue there are many ways of tackling it (each way is unique and suiting certain kinds of problems, so prudence has to be exercised in choosing the way that will suit one's problem). A few of them are:

  1. Laughing it off. Make constructive fun out of the situation, laugh out loud and avoid the ill effects. Somebody said wittily - "Laugh at your problems; everybody else does". It, sure works!
  2. Zipping our mouth. We have to be very careful in using our words in such situations. We can't afford to pour gasoline over the already burning, unneeded problems by wrong words. At times even silence does reward you.
  3. Taking a brisk walk.Taking a brisk walk would help us handle many issues better as walking helps to drain the blood away from the emotional centers in the brain thus aiding us to think without becoming panicky.
  4. A friend in need.A call to an old friend would for some time take us away into a world of good-old memories and fun, thus getting us rejuvenated and pragmatic.
  5. Get creative.Take a book and retire (may be scriptural, novel, anything that touches the soul and heart). Maybe it's time you tune your guitar again or start your strokes on the canvas or do anything you are creative at.
  6. Voice it low. When you converse always keep a low volume, for as the Bible says "a soft answer will turn away wrath" and helps you be in control of the situation.
  7. Self analysis. If we analyze and find ourselves to be among the Problem creators, we need not sit and whine. We need not feel inferior either. We just need to develop patience (meditation, music and exercise help).
  8. Self affirmation. This helps people in both the groups. Talking positively to ourselves will increase our self esteem and confidence thereby resulting in a total change of our approach and personality.
  9. Never nurture the nemesis.Another suggestion that has been passed on for centuries. Never crumble down before problem creators, for in doing so we essentially give their activities power over us, which encourages them. We have to make it known to them at every point in polite and acceptable ways that it is time they stop their activities and that we are not going to be affected by them anymore.
Giving up is not an option.Solutions come to those who keep working on their problems. We must also remember that solutions don't just come in a day or two. Maybe it can take weeks, months or even longer. Let us remember what Albert Einstein said "It's not that I'm so smart, it's just that I stay with problems longer".

How Does God Show Up?

People ask me how does God show up
When He can't be seen?
Facetiously I reply "How does God show up?
Whatever do you mean?"

Let me sit you down
And talk to you
Let me pull you 'round
And walk you through

How God shows up - He does it through people & situations
In which He uses them as vivid illustrations
Of His handiworks
How His Plan B lurks
When man besmirched Plan A
And the planet is in disarray

We are drowning - so He sends a boat our way
We say "That's okay, I'm waiting on God to show up"
We sink deeper so we pray
Then He sends a plane that day
Again we say "I'm waiting on God to show up"

We drown we die we're in Heaven now
And we ask the Father "Why'd you let us down?"
"Father we called out your name
We cried for you and you never came!"

God replies "I saw you, so I sent a boat
You didn't board it, you just let it float
I heard you, so I sent a plane
You ignored it and you drowned in vain

I showed up in paragon skies
In a twinkle in children's eyes
I showed up in a stranger who brought a meal
And in the danger I did not let you feel

Even when you did I was there
I was a paramedic in urgent care
That's how I show up, through people & situations
In villages, cities, throughout all nations
You kill, you lie & you blow up
Still I live, I love & I show up"

HOW TO HAVE A GOOD DAY!

Wake up early - don't rush
Breath slowly and deeply
Exercise
Take 5 minutes to reflect
Greet everyone
Smile a lot
Compliment often
Communicate
Listen more - talk less
Beware of giving advice
View your work as a privilege
Express appreciation
Do your best
Welcome change
Relax your neck muscles
Plan time for relaxation
Throw away negative feelings
Let go of anger and guilt
Leave work at work
Review your accomplishments
Plan pleasurable events
Eat well at night
Recognize your blessings
Lots of love

TRUE LIFE STORY

My heart bleeds for the things I cannot change
Watching people suffer in a world that's rich is strange

Last night I saw a little girl sleeping by the road
Compassion and pity hit me like a load

She was on her school uniform "white and blue"
I just stared at her not knowing what to do

The night was young but very cold
She tucked her arms in her sweater fold

I walked back and forth then I approached her
The brother walked up to me "what can I do for you sir?"

I'm a poet and I write for newspapers
I saw your sis and I got scared of rapists or kidnappers

Don't worry sir; we are waiting on our mum
We'll be gone by the time she comes

We live in the thatched house by the right
Very soon we'll call it A DAY and goodnight

As I walked on,
Listening to the savage garden song "Two Beds and A Coffee Machine"
I learnt to appreciate the little things I have, even if it's a peg or a pin

And so I soliloquized the song as I strolled home
Another ditch in the road - KEEP MOVING
Another stop sign - KEEP MOVING ON

And the years would go by so fast
And you'd wonder how you ever made it through
Finally, what had I learnt?

That life is a challenge - FACE IT
Life is a journey - TRAVEL IT
Life is a song - SING IT
LIFE IS A STORY - TELL IT

Who Says You Cannot?

Who says you cannot,
Tell him he is wrong.
Bigger are you, than opinions,
Much larger than you think.

What is needed but time,
Till then in patience wait.
For want of success,
You dare.
For want of glory,
Striving, you must be,
With a heart that is set,
Mind that is fixed,

Arms that are ready.

Then shall you see,
The rising of you, the inside 'you'.
High above the shadows,
Beyond views and opinions.
Everyone will then know,

When the phoenix rises,

Nothing stands in the way.
When the storms subside,
Opportunities come to play.
This is a law of life unsaid,
Are you willing to embrace?

Time is coming when,
You will rise and your problems, subdue.
Then will the sun shine, radiantly,
On your way to success and grandeur.
Imperative it is to move on - now,
For stagnation is the greatest disease.
Dynamic is the world you live in,
Thus, keep up the pace.

Leave your worries to the worrier,
For there are many - truly many.
Invest your 'you' in to edification,
For you are called to prove
That you are bigger than opinions.
You are commissioned to show,
That you are larger than your shadow.
Keep up the pace
And you shall prove so!

The Faithful Dog

There is a legend of a woman who had a faithful dog. This dog was so faithful that the woman could leave her baby with it and go out to attend other matters. She always returned to find the child soundly asleep with the dog faithfully watching over him.

One day, something tragic happened.

The woman as usual, left the baby in the "hands" of this faithful dog and went out shopping. When she returned, she discovered a rather nasty scene. There was a total mess.

The baby's cot was dismantled. His nappies and clothes torn to shreds, with bloodstains all over the bedroom where she had left the child and the dog. Shocked, the woman wailed as she began looking for the baby.

Presently, she saw the faithful dog emerging from the under the bed. It was covered with blood and licking its mouth as if it had just finished a delicious meal. The woman went berserk and assumed that the dog had devoured her baby. Without much thought, she clubbed the dog to death.

But as she continued searching for the "remains" of her child, she beheld another scene.

Close to the bed was her baby who, although lying on the bare floor, was safe. And under the bed, the carcass of a jackal torn to pieces in what must have been a fierce battle between it and the dog which was now dead.

Then reality hit the woman, who now began to understand what took place in her absence. The dog fought to protect the baby from the ravenous jackal. It was too late for her now to make amends because in her impatience and anger, she had killed the faithful dog.

Question: How often have we misjudged people and torn them to shreds with harsh words and even with physical assault before we have had time to evaluate the situation? A little patience can drastically reduce major life long errors.

Think about it!

My Heart Beats Happy

My heart beats happy
with thoughts of you.

From the comfort of your voice,
and the kindness that you speak,
to the battles that you've won,
and the nights that I long for you.
And my heart beats happy.

My heart beats happy,
when you say my name.
From a choir of angels this is sung,
sung to my flesh and bone.
And my heart beats happy.

My heart beats happy,
with thoughts of you.

Your long, uncoloured brown hair,
and lips that don't tell lies,
these are your gifts embroidered in me.
And my heart beats happy.

My heart beats happy
with these thoughts of you.

I told you I wasn't a breast man,
but one look at you, made me a believer.
In a casual dress, a red dress,
you shine like my prairie sun.
And my heart beats happy.

My heart beats happy,
when I look into your eyes.

The innocence of a child I feel,
reborn, and a need to be one.
This is what you've done for me.
And my heart beats happy.

Important Questions To Ask Yourself Each Day

Today, can you say that you were nice to everyone you came in contact with, and if they were not nice to you, that you humbled yourself long enough to let it go and not form a resentment??

Can you tell yourself that your heart and soul were filled with positive thoughts and the negative one's just bounced off?

Can you remember if you exhibited an act of kindness towards another person through out the course of your day?

Did you give more of yourself to people who needed you without wanting anything in return?

Did you go home to your family today and tell them you love them more than anything and thank them for being in your life??

Instead of seeing the mistakes people made today, did you tell them it was ok and offer a solution to fix it?

Did you reach out and touch someone's heart today, and fill it with hope for their future?

Did you say hello to a perfect stranger today to brighten their day, or just look someone in the eye today and smile at them for no reason, other than to make them feel good??

Can you rest your head on your pillow tonight and say that you did the very best at everything you did today?

If not, when you wake in the morning, you will have that opportunity all over again.

Remember what life is all about...It is about kindness to others and the people we love.

Tomorrow, reach out your hand and your heart to someone in need and make that person's life, that much better.....

Make every tomorrow a better day than today!!!
